double fisting…two soup bowls, that is

Sunday was a dreary, rainy day. With no plans, it seemed like the perfect day to trek out to the Sunset to revisit my old favorite northern pho restaurant Quan Ngon (http://www.yelp.com/biz/quan-ngon-san-francisco) that I mentioned last week. As we are driving there, what do ya know?.. It’s actually not raining, and it’s sunny in the Sunset!

So because we hadn’t been there in SO long, and I was hungry, my greedy self thought, instead of sharing an appetizer and each getting a bowl of pho, why not just get three bowls of pho between the two of us, and no app?? Not that weird when you break it down that way right?? Apparently, ordering this way seemed to be unheard of. Here is a recap of how the ordering process unfolded:

Me: I would like one small #7(chicken pho) and one small #9(beef pho)

Waitress: okay, one small #7 and one small #9

SW: I would like one large #9

Waitress: okay, one small #7 and one large #9

Me: No, sorry..one small #7, one small #9, AND one large #9

Waitress: Pauses. Confused look. Wow. Pause. Wow. Okay, one small #7, one small#9, one large #9.

SW: Yeah, she’s hungry. embarrassed smile.

Waitress: Wow.

Okay..come on! Did that really deserve 3 ‘Wows’??

A different server comes to our table with three bowls, sees two of us, and confused, he asks: “Wait..only two people??” Starts to put the big bowl down in front of me, and the two small bowls in front of SW.

SW: Oh sorry, those two small bowls are for her…yeah, she’s hungry.

Server looks at me like I’m crazy.

What’s the big deal??? We didn’t get an app for pete’s sake!! Give me a break!

It’s been so long…reunited..and it feels so goodddd. S.L.U.R.P…..

I started with the chicken pho, because usually it’s less flavorful then the beef, but it was definitely tasty and flavorful. There were huge chunks of chicken. After having a little, I moved onto the beef pho. The meat, as always was still super tender. WHERE are they getting this meat from?!
