umami is moving in!

i love burgers….from just plain old McDonald’s cheeseburgers, to In-N-Out’s, all the way to fancy shmancy ones that Umami serves.  I’ve only been to Umami’s Cow Hollow location one time (, shortly after it first opened.  I must say, they had some pretty tasty burgers!  SW and I each got our own (unfortunately I don’t recall what we had, it was over a year ago), and then we shared their ‘specialty burger’– apparently each location’s is different.

Cow Hollow’s specialty burger is:  Bacon-Wrapped Scallop Burger – hand-chopped scallop patty, crispy pork belly, sweet chile sauce and yuzu-garlic aioli

Mmmmm…….Yes, the entire ‘patty’ was made up of scallops.  Pretty neat huh?  Not sure how the scallops were held together, but it is a must try if you like seafood/scallops.

I was excited to learn that they will be opening an Umami near in, walking distance!!!!! Woot!!  In writing this post, I went to their website to get re-acquainted with their menu..and wow, I totally forgot how many items have truffle oil.  truffe fries.  truffle beet salad.  truffle burger.  and something called:

I think I will have to make a trip there again soon 😛

Must thank again for sharing this news!

Umami Burger to open a new San Francisco location

Pizzeria Delfina isn’t the only restaurant creating a link between San Francisco and Palo Alto. Tacolicious opened its Palo Alto spinoff in February, and a month later, Umami Burger opened its second Bay Area location there, following up on its location in Cow Hollow.

The rapidly growing SoCal-based burger chain is still working on that Oakland branch, but now comes word that founder Adam Fleischman has another Umami Burger in the works for San Francisco — and it’s in the shadow of the ballpark.

This week, Fleischman finalized a lease to take over the former Burger Joint on King Street, which closed at the end of April. The Umami Burger team will remodel the entire restaurant, add a bar, and as Fleischman puts it, “sexify it up.” They hope to open later this year.
